LiveBlogging with CoveritLive
CrunchGear used CoveritLive, a tool that lets you “liveblog” and blog while things are happening, during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2008 keynote with Bill Gates. For news junkies and those who like to feed the habit:
“CoveritLive’s web based software takes your next live blog to a new level. Your commentary publishes in real time like an instant message. Our ‘one-click’ publishing lets you drop polls, videos, pictures, ads and audio clips as soon as they come to mind. Comments and questions from your readers instantly appear but you control what gets published. Try our software for your next live blog. Your readers will love it.”
I stumbled upon it. Went to send a last e-mail before bed, opened Firefox, and saw a catchy headline in the TechCrunch widget on my Pageflakes home tab. It was like watching a campfire. I couldn’t take my eyes off it, especially with the clickety-clackety noise to go with it. To see what I mean, visit CrunchGear’s CES 2008 Live site, or better yet, try out CoveritLive’s demos. The recorded CES feed doesn’t really do it justice.
It gave me the feeling like I was in the next room with someone poking their head out every once in a while to describe what I was missing. “Yeah, now Bill’s getting in a car…now he’s using Surface…”
The CrunchGear guys even included a token picture or two to satisfy the masses. There were random tidbits and useless nuggets about the attractiveness of some speakers, but overall, the tidbits and as-real-time-as-you-can-get without audio / video feed information streaming out of the room via the CoveritLive messages were pretty interesting.
Try it @ CoveritLive - it’s free for most!
Requirements:
- Your blog
- Register for free at CoveritLive to use on your blog
- Someone who can type relatively fast (optional, but recommended) - I imagine it’s not quite as “mesmerizing” if the clickety-clackety is more of the long cliiiiiiiccccckkkkkk… you imagine hearing as you wait for someone like a 7-year-old to hunt and peck out L-O-L on IM!
